Okay for the record not all preternatural are created equal. The fact that each one turns into various shades, shapes and flavors of fur or dead should be sign enough. Jericho strives to be aboard that mixes in a bit of realism with its fantasy. Its the vitamin D hiding in a big glass of Chocolate milk hidden under all the sugary sweetness and in fact the bases of it. Everybody bleeds. Everyone loses some time quite often. So that being said to assign powers for lycanthropes you know that extra, extra something that puts your once a month furry creature over the top see below.
Now the way that this works is for starting characters (Any character never being played or written on Jericho regardless of BG elsewhere).
Omegas receive all the powers under starting powers plus the chance to pick ONE from their species to add. (Please only pick one from your level unless you have PM’d staff and explained how your lycan could hold a more dominant power and it was approved). After that they have to work ICly to have their character move up and gain more powers to try and keep things balanced.
Betas receive all of the powers from the starting pool , plus three from beta l level and two from the species specific for their character (one each from Omega and Beta level only unless like with omegas you have prior permission from staff). Afterwards like the Omegas to have their character move up and gain more powers to try and keep things balanced.
Alphas receive all of the powers under the starting, four of the intermediate (beta) powers, and three of the Graduate powers (alpha). At this point the alpha may choice to pick three powers from their species (one each from all three levels). Like with the omegas & betas’s the alpha must work ICly to have their character move up and gain more powers to try and keep things balanced.
Titled Leaders are not always alphas they more times than not aside from the king/queen of the clan are usually not. Any who are Titled leaders (starting is a probationary review ICly) receive a bonus to from their species specific. (This can be from ANY level, BUT be warned your character will still need to learn it to fully have the control and balance that power wields. Meaning an Omega won’t have the control an alpha so please don’t expect to just because you have the power. )
Gaining new abilities and growing in Power is a matter of posting minimums and cash flow.
Once a character has reached 100 posts, they can spend time training and $50,000.00 to purchase a new power or create one supported by their posts. Once a character has reached a sufficient percentage of the powers of their attributive ranks and 100 posts they can spend $100,000.00 to achieve a new rank.
Basic Line Lycanthrope Powers: (All the basic powers will vary to degree for each level)
Definition of each power:
Shifting - This is the lycanthrope's ability to shift into their beast form. With bones shifting, tissue tearing, and muscles contorting, this process is known to be extremely painful. It always is an uncomfortable process but it is said the first two years of shifting are the worst. All lycanthropes are forced to fully shift by the full moon's pull once a month, and the shift is usually followed by a hunt for food. Outside of the full moon, relatively new lycans are known to shift for other reasons such as emotions or sex. The shift is usually involuntary and oftentimes can result in an injury to anyone standing too close. Stronger lycanthropes can control their transformation, able to keep their beast calm and non-shifted or a partial shift to a hybrid human-animal form.
Enhanced Strength, Senses, Speed, Stamina, & Resilience - When infected or born with lycanthropy, there is an immediate increase in strength, resilience, and their senses. Their strength does depend on their natural size and their level of power as a lycan, but even the weakest are much stronger than a human. Their senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing) are enhanced and angled in on a more defined level even in human form. Lycanthropes are much harder to damage than a human as well, and under most circumstances will recover from almost anything. The two exceptions to this are wounds caused by silver and fire.
Improved Recovery/Regeneration - When a lycanthrope does get injured, they are able to recover very fast and they have the ability to regenerate any body part needed. For instance, if their arm is tore off in an accident, they can easily regenerate it. Wounds caused by silver, fire, vampire/lycan teeth or claws are much harder to heal though, and oftentimes require actual medical assistance. Not all lycanthropes heal at the same rate. Some will heal extremely fast while others are almost human slow.
Resistance - Naturally lycans can resist even the most common of wounds inflicted upon them. (However, this does change if the wound is caused by silver, fire or other preternatural weapons I.E. claws, teeth.) But this does mean they have a higher tolerance to any wounds they receive and it allows them a longer time to fight or even seek shelter from the enemy. Yet one should be ready as this isn't just a natural level for all lycans and will vary from each person. The higher in rank for instance the longer and better the resistance.
Command of Animal – The ability for a lycanthrope to command the wild version of their beast to aid them. Now of course this doesn’t always work out well especially for a weaker or omega lycan and they can end up having a very annoyed and angry wild version of their beast. Working on this with another around might be of good advice if you have never used this before. The wild counter could easily accept or easily hate being called. So take caution when using this power, (omega/beta please also remember your strength won’t be as strong as an alpha so your targets will need to be close. Although beta will have a little more distances not much than omega.
Call of the Vampire - Varies for each level (Omegas will have no real stop to block the call, while some betas could possible hold off, but they would still feel the need. Alphas can completely block the call though still feel the brush against their aura.) Depending on the one calling it could be a mere brush or full on power wrapping around your senses
Beta Basic Lycanthrope Powers:
Definition of each power:
Sense the Death - A lycanthropes desire during the hunt is heightened and this allows them to find the best prey to take down. Mostly without much effort and help keep the life cycle continue to stay balanced.
Song of Luna- All lycan’s have the pull of the moon, but this power gives them an even stronger connection. During the full moon, a lycan under this power will feel a heightened sense in and around their form, which depending on their connection with their group could extend to them as well. There is a sense that your already heightened senses and abilities are even more amazing and it shows for that whole night. (Unfortunately the effects are only seen during the full moon).
Tolerance to Pain - With this ability, the lycanthrope is seemingly able to ignore the pain of their wounds and continue as if they never happened. This doesn't negate the attack, but pushes the pain back into the lycanthropes subconscious so it can be temporarily forgotten. Although since this is beta level it won’t be a completely resisted effect only a tolerance, allowing the lycan to continue and possible get to safety.
Resisting the Beast - This is like the beastly control, but it’s more for beta’s as it can’t be a complete control of ones beast. They do have better control however than an omega, not having to shift automatically when upset, however, should the situation because extreme or their emotions pushed further than unfortunately they will shift. The beast will feel that need and take over; especially during a full moon though betas with this power can hold it off slightly should they be in an unsafe environment.
Cloak of Shadow - Like an alpha’s ability to block ones aura, this allows a beta to conceal them in shadow. It acts like a cloak around the lycanthrope (think invisible cloak) keeping them both physically but also metaphysically concealed. This isn’t just a physical power; it extends to the metaphysical realm as well. However, this won’t block Master vampires of exceptional age or even older alpha’s, so one still needs to be prepared and cautious of whom you use this power around.
Alluring Presence - While lycanthropes are naturally alluring, this does attract attention not always the wanted kind, but attention none the less. This now passes over to the human counter; (now this isn’t to say that the human lacks allure) this is a complete enhancement that gives off the same effect. It allows the human to become alluring in appearance, speech, personality, behavior, dress while not physically changing anything. The trick is of the mind as the lycanthropes scent gives off a special mix, that tricks the brain (both human and preternatural alike).
Alpha Basic Lycanthrope Powers:
Definition of each power:
Out of Mind - This is the alpha’s version of tolerance, just this won’t just be a tolerance, it is a complete block of all pain. The lycan would show no hint of pain no matter their wounds or the cause so even damage by fire and silver would not show. Now of course there is pain, but the alpha has mastered a block of their mind to the feelings at least till they can get to safety. Only then will the block drop and they truly begin to feel what has befallen them. The trick is good especially in a fight, confusing the attacker into believing the pain means nothing. Some might say it’s all the adrenaline pumping and perhaps that is true, either way an alpha with this power will have no weakness of pain visible.
Block of Aura - Much like cloak this is the Alpha’s power for cloaking their metaphysical aura from others. Although some older masters/elders and even alphas older in age could possible still get a hint of the aura, not enough to know much, but they would still sense it. Leaving a desire to possible investigates more, but ultimately the aura is hidden and being ousted not even a real worry.
Beastly Control - Beta’s have the baby version of control, but this is the final step for controlling the beast. It is the established connection fully between the human and their beast, making them a whole, complete unit. Where one ends the other just continues and there is no longer a separation of the two. They have this balance between them and know work completely as a whole, shifting when needed not because the situations aren’t favorable.
Protection - Taking a step from natural animals, this allows for a higher/alpha or even beta (would need to be close to alpha level to take this power) to assume protection to a weaker or lesser lycan. With a mere touch along the neck in either human or beast one has shown they are official protecting the person and that any and all challenges will be than passed through them. In some instances this can be expanded by the leader and thereby makes the whole group (pride, pack, pard) the protector of said person, but that is up to the leader themselves. (Usually this is strictly one on one unless situations deem more involved).
Psychic Wall - Many vampires and even some humans have the ability to invade your mind in varies ways. With this shield the alpha can block any and all attempts, in a way locking their mind completely from invasion. (One must be a strong alpha to hold this for any stretch of time as it can become draining).
Hint of the Beast - While not all alphas will have this ability it does come in handy, especially when a full shift just really isn’t needed or possible capable. One with this power is able to manipulate just a part of their body usually their teeth or the hands into razor sharp fangs/claws allowing for some pretty extreme assaults. But it also shows a new level of control for one able to resist an full shift for a much more realistic approach that can still deliver desired results. (Not recommended when fighting a lone fight with a group).
Leader Basic Lycanthrope Powers:
Definition of Powers:
Bonded Spirits - This ability is one for pairs wishing to have the strongest bond between mates. It allows for an eternal spiritual bond sealed in blood. Both pairs must go into this agreement willingly, no doubts in mind, body or spirit otherwise the connection will not be made. Once both have willingly agreed, they must share blood privately during the full moon. After the blood is shared a mating is needed to fully seal the connection at that time, both parties will feel a change. Not only will they forever be bond to their mate, but they can sense, and feel when their mate is near, hurt, angry, scared, it doesn’t matter the connection in a sense shows all. However, should one of the mates die and the other does find a new partner, they will forever have a part of their spirit lost that even a new soul can’t replace. (This bond other than death can’t be broken or hindered by any means it truly is an unbreakable connection).
Call of the Vampire - This is a leaders version of the basic power, which allows them to not only block a vampire call to themself personally, but to also shield their family as well. Of course like any power it will vary in strength, depending on the leaders own strength, but the effect is still much the same. A group (pard, pack, swarm, etc) will be completely blocked to the vampires call no matter the level of the vampire in question. However, should the group in someway not be a completely whole unit (trust issues) than the block could be weakened. As well as having more than one vampire putting out a call to that particular group, as there are more than one known to be in some areas.
Healing Body - (Separate from alpha based healing, but can be combined and make even more powerful) This is the leaders version of a basic healing of members, through blood/sex depending on the situation, however, what sets this apart from the basic alpha healing is one thing. While this is a healing of one member from the start, once it is started the power at work expands out to include all members. Of course they won’t be fully healed as the chosen, but they will be to an extent that gives them perhaps a longer time to go without rest or to finish a fight.
Rage - This can be both a blessing and a curse for some leaders, since it does take many from their comfort zone. It is a complete loss of control, however, the cause is betrayal, manipulation and the result is their family being endangered and harmed. Of course it has to be a true betrayal or manipulation by an otherwise trusted ally/member/family in order for the power to become active. The results will vary from leader to leader, but it won’t be a pleasant or clean that is for sure and it is possible for a leader to have no memory of the action after. Since they do lose all coherent thought when in this state, so be wary.
Aide of the Mother - No this isn’t a power to call ones mother, it is Mother Earth that heeds this aide. Since lycans are naturally in tune to the earth, they already have senses that aid them, but with this power that is expanded to a new level. And it can vary depending on the need at the time of use. E.X say one has no luck finding sustainable food for their family, with the use of this power prey will be found. Either by a sign mentally or perhaps even physically from the earth herself. Now what that sign is will vary from leader to leader, it could be a simple scent, sound, feeling or even the wild counterpart suddenly appearing. Still no matter who, why, when, where or how Mother Earth is always prepared to help and protect her children no matter what, one just needs to look for the signs.
Hybrid Manipulation - Extremely rare and extremely dangerous for both parties involved. Ultimately, the leader is aiding one member of their family into achieving what usually only happens around the alpha level. Hybrid form and since many in this form don’t have complete control this is one of the extreme risk when forcing the body to take on this side. Usually this would only be chosen under extremely, (no alternative situations) and both sides need to look at all the risks before undergoing. For one the leader has to have complete and utter concentration in order to help their member, two the member is going to have to deal with some horrible pain as their body will be forced into this form not it happening gradually or over time. Third it can leave both sides extremely weak and susceptible to possible attack and four; the behavior/emotions of the hybrid form are very unclear. So a leader could be facing a very dangerous, confused creature that wants to kill first and ask questions last. It really isn’t for a young leader and shouldn’t be attempted unless the person taking on this task can and will forsake everything and everyone around in order to fulfill the deed.
Now the way that this works is for starting characters (Any character never being played or written on Jericho regardless of BG elsewhere).
