Hale rose early not because he wished to see the sun rise over the lagoon in the distance but because he didn’t trust his bedmates. He in fact trusted fewer people than he had moral qualms. He wasn’t the trusting type even of himself. He double checked his day’s itinerary on his phone before heading to the shower. He saw he had scheduled time to call a few Khans and Chang’s on the mainland. This news he was hearing of a militarized force of lions was troubling. If those thugs, mobsters and rent a muscle could organize that would change the shape the landscape.
Lions had the benefit that they were far more contagious a strain than Tigers. They also had no issue with just wantonly infecting anyone with a pulse. Ever sense the Banks-Walkers disappeared there wasn’t anyone that could rival any of the Liéren Yú Hei’án Wáng. Thank god they imploded all those years ago. If not and if half of what he’d heard growing up was to be believed they would have been a force to be reckoned with in this new millennia. Moving from the hotel room he slipped his jacket on in the hall. Catching the eye of the maid he slipped her a fifty before moving instead of to the elevator to the stairs. He had a relatively busy day ahead of him best to begin it now.
Reaching the lobby he called up his second instructing him where to have a car meet him before heading across the street to obtain sustenance. A large breakfast to recharge the energies he spent the night before and he was set to begin actually his day. Smiling as he slipped the waitresses tip into her hand he moved to the managers office he knew Madeline would be on the premises checking the numbers. What better way than looking on her. While they had the chance of being singly present.

Madeline sat behind the large blonde wood desk in a chair that fit her behind perfectly. When she had taken over the restaurant she had moved her own desk and chair into the office to feel more at home. Having to break in a new chair just wasn't right for a business that was quickly becoming her baby. She had been there since about 6 am going over the books making sure everything was running smoothly. The doors opened at 7 but she knew she wouldn't be done in time to check in on the kitchen before hand so there she sat hoping the people in the kitchen wouldn't screw anything up.
About 30 minutes later Maddie felt the strong presence of a tiger walk into the building. With a long suffering sigh she knew immediately it was Hale. Of course silently she thought the Khan was a sexy beast but with the major problems between the two clans it wouldn't do well to act on her thoughts. He moved quickly towards her door and right as he turned the door knob she pulled her shields in close to her and smoothed all expression from her face. This was their first meeting after her take over and she was determined it would go well.

Madeline was a sexy little tigress. One of the many things that made her adorable was that she resisted him at every turn. She never resisted in any way that would provoke a response or an escalation but enough to make Hale aware that there was a mind that refused to kneel therein. He found it nearly irresistible. He would never admit it aloud but he cherished it all the same. When it was all said and done Hale was a simple man by his understanding. She was a mountain he would scale defeating it in the process. For now he was pleased simply knowing he would. There would be no locking of horns not in the here and now at least.
“Good Morning Chang. How is business going?” As he spoke his beast brushed against her s. Scent marking her purring deeply in its chest. Lightly calling to her not enough to be successful but enough to let her know he was lightly toying with her.
He smiled a bright sterling smile. He was toying with her and she with him if this was to be the nature of their relations for now he was okay with it. This conversation while the first of theirs as leaders of their streaks would set the tone for all those that would follow. He had every meaning to be on his better behavior but she was in fact very attractive.

Madeline looked up as he entered the office. She kept her face neutral and her tiger under wraps while he tried to play her. He was a womanizer from all accounts that she had heard so why in the world did he think she would be into that kind of thing. He smiled brightly at her as he said good morning and asked how her place was doing. She only had a few more pages to go through but she hadn't found anything out of order.
She set her pen down and sat up in the chair from her earlier position and looked at Hale with a cool expression. "Good morning to you Khan. Business seems to be doing just fine. Nothing out of sorts according to the books but still not sure about the rest of the place. Enough of that my question to you is what are you doing here? Especially so early in the morning?"
Maddie let her eyes drift down his frame noticing his dark blue suit and gorgeous blue shirt. He was way more dressy than she was. All she wore was light makeup a white strapless sundress and red pumps. It was hot out and she was determined to keep cool. She pushed her chair back a little taking in a deep breathe. The strongest scent was his soap and smell of his tiger. Damn if she couldn't breathe that in all day.

Smiling he allowed his smile to drift darkly for a moment. She was a chang and it was her right. But he was a Khan and the only true Khan he knew of so it was again his right as well. He was not one to be mastered. Even by himself at times. Moving into the office more physically he sat on her desk corner. Near enough at hand so that he could take in the scent of her beast hiding just behind those vibrant blue eyes of hers.
Absently glancing over her paperwork he looked back to her holding the eye contact a moment longer before saying. "Thank you madam Chang. Good business is a good thing I see you have a nice breakfast crowd. I was having breakfast like your other diners. Now I am checking on a kissing cousin. After all we are all Ohana. You me our Streaks and even your guests out there. No need to be cold with one another or antagonistic."
Warm hot heat came off her skin in waves. She was stronger than even she knew. It tasted like a holiday on his tongue. He wondered if she would taste as sweet as she seemed. He imagined her as a sweetened cinnamon with a hint of vanilla. He’d just eaten and yet she made him hungry all the same. Though not for food or any recreational coupling but for something with sustenance something that would finally sate the empty maw of his being.

Maddie tensed a little as Hale walked further into her space and way to far into her bubble as he seated himself on the corner of her desk. She looked up at him and watched the smile change subtly adding a darkness to his face that she knew was never a good thing. "Ya know Hale, there are two chairs for you to sit in. That's what they are for." She pointed in their direction just in case he forgot the way back around her desk.
She pushed her chair out further and stood up moving to stand in front of the tiger invading her space. This wasn't how she had envisioned her morning going. She was supposed to of gotten done with the books and then made her rounds to check on customers and staff to make sure everybody was happy.
Their eyes were almost on level which made her feel a little better but not much. In fact he did a pretty good job of setting her on edge most of the time. With a small smile finally she said "I'm not being cold and I'm not trying to antagonize you. I just don't want you to close." But what she did next bellied what her words said. Madeline dropped her shields and stepped into Hales body. Good thing everybody else in the building were human she thought the most any of them would have just felt was some prickling of their bodily hair.

As she mentioned the chairs he took a glance at them. No those wouldn’t do at all he thought his smile becoming a smirk. "Yes there are. I didn’t see them as you were all I cared about." As she came closer he allowed the silence to dribble along growing as he breathe in her scent. He allowed his shields to drop in portion with hers. The air filling with their beasts made the room far too intimate. The space of her office barely containing the heat of them both. He watched from the corner of his eye as the papers began to stir.
Close was good he thought as she stepped further into him. She showed her bravery as well as tempted him. Now wasn’t the time for such things a portion of him thought yet he rode the wave allowing himself to be fully in this moment. Raising a brow he considered what she’d said as well as what she’d done. Standing he closed the space between them to a fraction of inches. He managed to not cross that boundary, for now.
Lowering his head so that their gaze didn’t break he continued speaking. Tauntingly by dint of his nature though in truth he spoke honestly stirring the pot as it were. "Why wouldn’t you want me close? After all shouldn’t you keep your friends close? Or perhaps maybe you don’t see me in that light. Perhaps? You should but allow me to prove it to you." Taking her challenge of space for what it was Hale placed a kiss on her forehead. Wrapping his hands around her small arms. Even as she stirred him he held her aloft. He was sure she would view his hands as controlling her but in truth they were controlling himself so that he wouldn’t cross that small divide more than he already was.

Maddie's breathing shallowed when the object of her attention slid off the desk and stepped even closer but when his hands reached up and wrapped themselves around her upper arms it kind of pissed her off. What did he think he was doing. When he leaned in which she hadn't really expected and kissed her forehead of all places she glared at him. Her tiger slid a little more out making her eyes turn black, she wasn't interested in being teased or held back.
Madeline swatted his hands away and slid her own into the lapels of his jacket pulling him closer. She could see he was trying to hold back and when you spent as many years as she had watching him there were certain things she just knew about him. It was plain as day what he wanted and she wanted to give it to him but before they could get any further a knock sounded on the door.
With a sigh of frustration she pulled back from Hale and swallowed her tiger on the way to the door to see what they wanted her for. Glancing over her shoulder she shot him a dirty look before opening the door to see what they had been interrupted for. Madeline listened to the woman tell her about a customer that was being a complete a-hole and because she was new she wasn't sure how to handle it and the other staff had directed her to the office.
Sure Maddie was glad the waitress hadn't gone off on the guy but at the same time she couldn't have shown up at a worse time. Well actually she could have but they hadn't managed to get that far. She turned to Hale and shrugged before heading out the door to take care of it leaving him to choose to follow or stay put.

As she grabbed his lapels Hale relaxed into her grip a cat that ate the canary smile crossing his lips. He had her. Though in truth he suspected it was a mutual magic being worked. As she released him a growl escaped him. To the unaware it would have merely seemed an annoyed exasperated exhalation. To those with heightened senses it was the presaging a storm. He was not near shifting as his resolve was far higher than one would expect. Especially for someone who tended to give into their impulses far too often. Hale moved past Maddie only half listening to the waitress. Pausing arms length from the woman who was just barely above sand mites in his estimation he reached into his jacket removing his money clip. Removing two Franklins he slipped it into the woman’s sweaty paw of a hand.
“Maddie perhaps we should continue our conversation over dinner.” He said looking back at her as she tried to mother the woman he would have demoted on the spot. There were never in excuses for excellence so then why should there be an acceptance for mediocrity. He continued out to the floor proper reading each face of the diners. Spotting the haole sharkbait Hale moved to their table fists clenching and unclenching. He thought of using the woman but stifled his own prejudices. Grabbing the man up by the thinning hair on his head Hale walked towards the door. He spoke calmly but raised his voice to be heard by all of the diners and most of the staff.
“Hawaii is great place to visit if you are respectful. Otherwise we are very lolo. Respect the islands or you won’t make it back to the mainland sharkbait.” As he opened the door Hale threw him towards the waiting concrete and as the man’s screaming shrew was near at hand he grabbed her holding her until she met his eyes then pushed her down on top of the weak example of a man. “Have a nice remainder of your visit folks.” Hale intoned his voice back at conversational levels.

Madeline had figured Hale would follow along behind her to see what the commotion was but what she hadn't expected was for him to deal with in the manner he had or even to do anything at all. This was her place not his and he didn't have the right to do as he pleased. Still she stood rooted to the spot as she watched the events unfold in front of her and the rest of the customers and staff. Her mouth fell open when he tossed the man out the door on his face and the wife out after him. It was still hanging there when he turned around and eyed the rest of the people standing and sitting around all in shock. At last he shifted his attention back to her and Maddie had the sense to shut her gaping jaw.
She could feel the heat of her annoyance and anger beginning to work its way up her body. Her spine stiffened while she looked pointedly back at him meeting his eyes. She knew he could see how mad she was but she'd be damned if she would start yelling in front of everyone. She turned on her heel and shot the new waitress a look to get out of her way and headed back to her office. Sure she knew Hale had asked her to dinner but there was no way she was going now. He'd shot himself in the foot by taking over the situation instead of letting her handle it as was her duty.
Madeline made it a point to slam the office door in the tigers face.
